The Neighbours´ Culinary Customs project
In 2004 our school submitted a proposal for the creation of the Neighbours´ Culinary Customs project among Bukaschool in Most (Czech Republic), Savon ammantti-ja aikuisopisto hotel school in Kuopio (Finland) and Kauno maisto pramones mokykla gastronomy school in Kaunas (Lithuania). The project was approved the following year so that we proceeded to realization in 2005-2007.
The goal of this project was to develop co-operation among participating schools, enriching all the parties while aiming at culinary traditions of each country.
We realized three partner meetings, there where we together created presentation and information brochures and CDs. We have created a multilingual (Czech - English - Finnish - Lithuanian) dictionary of basic culinary vocabulary and polite phrases and a cook book full of recipes prepared during partner meetings. A diary summarizing and mapping activities of participants was drawn up.
The project contributed to the development of culinary skills of both students and teachers, to enriching the English vocabulary of participants and to improving communication skills. The creation of output by-produced better ICT skills and wider awareness of the partners´ countries.
